NGC 4984 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0-a and lies in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 55 million light years away from the Milky Way and is around 50,000 ly in diameter.
The object was discovered by William Herschel on February 8, 1785 .
