NGC 5006 is a 12.4 mag bright ring and lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 117 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 75,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 5018 and NGC 5022 .
The object was discovered on March 31, 1881 by Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel .
