NGC 5014 is a 12.7 mag bright spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Hounds in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 53 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 25,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 5002 , NGC 5005 , NGC 5033 , IC 4213 .
The object was discovered on May 1, 1785 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as “F, S, LE”.
