NGC 5019 is a 13.7 mag bright barred spiral galaxy (and at the same time a radio galaxy ) of the Hubble type SB? in the constellation of Virgo . It was discovered on April 17, 1786 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflecting telescope, who described it as "eF, eS, easily resolvable".
