NGC 5015 is a 12.3 likes bright barred spiral galaxy of Hubble type SBa in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 137 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 75,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 5036 , NGC 5039 , IC 855 , among others .

The object was discovered on March 11, 1787 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who noted "F, cL, iR, lbM, time inaccurate"; He described a second observation as "eF, eS, cE 55 degrees".
