NUTS 1 regions

As NUTS: HU or NUTS regions in Hungary is called territorial organization of Hungary in accordance with the European "Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics" ( NUTS ).

Basics

In Hungary, the three NUTS and two LAU levels are assigned as follows (as of January 2016) :

  • NUTS 1: 3 Main Statistical Regions (Statisztikai nagyrégiók)
  • NUTS 2: 7 planning and statistical regions (Tervezési-statisztikai régiók)
  • NUTS 3: 19 counties (Megyék) + Budapest
  • LAU 1: 197 districts (Járások) since 2013 - the 174 (statistical) small areas (Statisztikai kistérségek) were dissolved at the end of 2012
  • LAU 2: 3155 places (Települések)
