NUTS: FR
As NUTS: FR or NUTS regions in France are called territorial organization of France according to the European "Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics".
Basics
In France, the three NUTS levels are assigned as follows:
- NUTS 1: 9 NUTS 1 regions, the 8 ZEAT (Zone d'études et d'aménagement du territoire) and DOM (Départements d'Outre-mer)
- NUTS-2: 18 regions (fr. Régions ) including the individual 4 * DOM (i.e. ROM , Régions d'Outre-mer )
- NUTS-3: 101 departments including each 4 * DOM
- LAU-1: 3.785 Cantons de rattachement (largely corresponds to the cantons )
- LAU-2: 36,680 communities (Communes)

*One statistical item for other, in particular for the EU territory of France that does not belong to any NUTS level: Saint-Martin (a COM)
