NUTS 1: EL3, EL4, EL5, EL6
   

As NUTS: EL (since NUTS 2010 version, previously NUTS: GR ) or NUTS regions in Greece is called territorial organization of Greece according to the European "Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics" ( NUTS ). The change from GR to EL took place with the 2010 version, which was enacted by EU Regulation 31/2011 of January 17, 2011 and has been in force since January 1, 2012 for data transmission to Eurostat.

Basics

In Greece, the three NUTS levels are assigned as follows:

• NUTS-1: 4 groups of developing regions ( Γεωγραφική Ομάδα Geografiki Omada )
• NUTS-2: the 13 regions ( Περιφέρειες Periferies )
• NUTS 3: 52 areas; each individual or several regional districts, some of them coinciding with the former prefectures ( Νομοί Nomi ), which were abolished on January 1, 2011
• LAU : 6,133 municipalities, municipalities ( Δημοτικές Dimotikes , Τοπικές Κοινότητες Topikes Koinotites )
