Night at the Museum: The mysterious tomb (Original title: Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb ) is an American feature film from director Shawn Levy from the year 2014 , realizing his films Night at the Museum and Night at the Museum 2 continued . In the third part of the franchise , night watchman Larry Daley ends up in the British Museum in London , where Ahkmenrah's magic tablet once again brings a wide variety of museum pieces to life. The main roles are Ben Stiller and Robin Williams , and supporting roles include Owen Wilson , Ricky Gervais and Ben Kingsley .

In New York's American Museum of Natural History , to mark the opening of the planetarium, a show with the exhibits come to life. After a short time, the characters behave strangely and cause chaos during the show. Because of this disaster, the museum director has to vacate his chair. The museum night watchman Larry Daley discovers that the Ahkmenrah tablet, which brings the exhibits to life every night, has a “malfunction”. Hoping that Ahkmenrah's parents, who are on display at the British Museum in London , can help, Daley travels to London with the Tafel and some friends, as well as his son Nick.

At the British Museum, Daley smuggles everyone past the night watchman into the building. A Neanderthal man is supposed to guard the entrance. In the building, the group must defend themselves against the attack of a Triceratops skeleton, with the help of the awakened Sir Lancelot . Octavius ​​and Jedediah are separated from the group and get lost in the ventilation system. The capuchin monkey Dexter finds her and saves her from the eruption of Vesuvius in the Pompeii exhibition.

Meanwhile, the group survives the fight against an Asian snake demon and finally arrives at the Pharaoh. He explains that the tablet has not been exposed to the moonlight for a long time, and therefore suffers the malfunction. Daley tries to bring the tablet outside into the moonlight, but is stopped by Lancelot, who sees the real Holy Grail in the tablet . He steals the tablet and escapes the museum.

The night watchman has discovered the Neanderthal man and takes him and Daley prisoner. The two are able to flee, whereby the Neanderthal man is supposed to guard the night watchman. The two fall in love.

Daley and the rest of the group follow Lancelot through London. In a theatrical performance called "Camelot" with Hugh Jackman , Lancelot realizes that during this time in which he has awakened, much is only a facade. His pursuers can put him on the roof. Due to the panel malfunction, most of the exhibits are immobilized, and Daley mourns that his friends are now dying. Lancelot realizes that the Grail doesn't have to be an object, but true friendship is important in life. He gives the tablet to Daley, who can fix it in the moonlight. All exhibits come to life again.

The blackboard is now to stay in London with Ahkmenrah, while the rest of the group will fly back to New York, where they will arrive in time for sunrise and take their exhibition positions. They only wake up three years later when the Ahkmenrah table comes to the museum as part of a special exhibition, where everyone is having a big party.

It is the last visible film role of Robin Williams - afterwards only the family film Random Almighty appeared , in which he lent his voice to a dog. It was also one of the last films with Mickey Rooney , whose film career spanned 300 films over a period of 88 years and who died a few weeks after his scenes were shot. In the credits, the film was dedicated to Williams and Rooney.

Hugh Jackman and Alice Eve have a joint guest appearance in the film. You play yourself as the main actor in a play about the round table.
