Natalja Dobrynska ( Ukrainian Наталя Добринська , English transcription Natalya Dobrynska ; born May 29, 1982 in Vinnytsia ) is a former Ukrainian heptathlete and Olympic champion .

Career

Her first big success was the silver medal in the pentathlon at the 2004 World Indoor Championships in Budapest. At the Olympic Games in Athens , she was eighth.

In the next few years she was more successful indoors than outdoors. A third and a fifth place at the European Indoor Championships in 2005 and 2007 as well as a fourth place at the 2008 World Indoor Championships in Valencia was ninth place at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki, sixth place at the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg, and eighth place at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka and fourth place at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin.

Her greatest success so far was at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, where she won the gold medal with her personal best of 6733 points ahead of Hyleas Fountain (USA) and Tatyana Chernova (RUS).

At the World Indoor Championships in Doha in 2010 , she improved the Ukrainian indoor record to 4851 points and won the silver medal 86 points behind the British Jessica Ennis .

At the 2010 European Championships in Barcelona, ​​she also came second.

She won the gold medal at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul in 2012 . She achieved a new indoor world record in the pentathlon. She was the first woman to break the 5000 point mark with 5013 points.
