The Hirschberg nature reserve with a size of 12.9 hectares is located south of Inderlenne in the urban area of Schmallenberg . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Schmallenberg Southeast landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG is a forest area on the steep north to south-east slope of the Hirschberg. In this area there are red beech forest and ravine forest rich in hardwood , as well as low rocks and seepage springs. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the forest with species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
