The Drommecke nature reserve with a size of 7.1 hectares is located southeast of Lenne in the urban area of Schmallenberg . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Schmallenberg Southeast landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG is the upper part of the Kerbtalsiepen of the Drommecke . The Drommecke is a left side stream of the Uentrop , which in turn flows from the left to the Lenne . There are numerous springs and spring rivulets in the NSG. The upper area of the NSG has the character of a canyon forest. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the valley and the creek of the Drommecke with its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
