The nature reserve Kulturlandschaftskomplex Nordenau with a size of 7.6 hectares is located east of the Nordenau urban area of Schmallenberg . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Schmallenberg Southeast landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG is the east and south exposed slopes of the Nesselbach valley with grassland . The grassland is poor grassland. Areas with bristle grass lawns can also be found in the NSG. There are also two springs in a field with black alder trees . Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the grassland area with its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
