The nature reserve Keitenplatz with a size of 3.9 hectares is located northwest of Lengenbeck in the urban area of Schmallenberg . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Schmallenberg Southeast landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG is a clearing island in the forest with grassland . The grassland is wet, damp and poor grassland. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the grassland area with its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
