The Rarbach nature reserve with a size of 3.9 hectares is located east of Kirchrarbach in the urban area of Schmallenberg . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Schmallenberg Northwest landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG is an approximately 600 m long section of the Rarbachaue . In addition to the brook, which is about 1.50 wide here, there is grassland and hedges in the protected area. The grassland is partly wet grassland. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect this section of the Rarbachaue with its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
