The Oegmannsholz nature reserve with a size of 11.3 hectares is located southwest of Brabecke and south of Haus Brabecke in the urban area of Schmallenberg . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Schmallenberg Southeast landscape plan . The NSG consists of two areas.

Area description

The NSG is a beech forest . In the NSG there are rocks and springs up to 2.5 m high. There are also two Kerbtalsiepen in the western part of the area. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the forest areas with their species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
