The Basemicke nature reserve with a size of 6.4 hectares is located northeast of Nordenau in the urban area of Schmallenberg . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Schmallenberg Southeast landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG is the basemicketal . The source of the basemicke is also located in the NSG. The valley is partly used as grassland, other parts lie fallow. Some woody areas are in the valley area. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the Basemicketal with species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
