The nature reserve Kehlenberg with a size of 6.8 ha is located south of Bödefeld in the urban area of Schmallenberg . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Schmallenberg Southeast landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG is an overgrown red beech - oak - coppice forest on the Kehlenberg . On the ridge there is a low, moss-rich ledge.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the forest area with its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
