The Westernahtal nature reserve with a size of 16.4 hectares is located north of Huxel in the urban area of Schmallenberg . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Schmallenberg Southeast landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG is the Westernahbachtal . The meadow valley has damp and wet grassland. In the bushes, u. a. the red backed .

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the Wiesental with species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
