Neukrug is located in Niederlausitz , about 16 kilometers as the crow flies northwest of the district town of Lübben . history

Neukrug was mentioned for the first time in 1767 in the Schmettauschen map series under its name, which is still used today, the former single settlement was the Dorfkrug zu Leibchel, hence the place name. In 1818 there were five residents. In 1844 there were nine residential buildings with 54 residents in what was then known as the "Sandkrug". For 1867 there were 78 inhabitants in 14 buildings in Neukrug, at that time there was a windmill and two extensive farmsteads .

Historically Neukrug belonged to the Krummspreeischen Kreis . At the Congress of Vienna in 1815, after the defeat of the Kingdom of Saxony, it was decided to assign territory to the Kingdom of Prussia , which also affected the Neukrug settlement. After that, the municipality was in the district of Lübben in the administrative district of Frankfurt in the province of Brandenburg . After the end of the Second World War, Neukrug became part of the Soviet occupation zone and later the GDR . During the district reform on July 25, 1952, the village came to the district of Lübben in the Cottbus district . After the reunification , the Lübben district was renamed the Lübben district and finally dissolved. In the course of the Brandenburg district reform in 1993 , the Leibchel community with the Neukrug district came to the Dahme-Spreewald district . On October 26, 2003, the Leibchel community merged with 17 other communities to form the new Märkische Heide community.
