Otto von Bonin
Otto Heinrich Ferdinand von Bonin (born October 12, 1795 in Lupow , † April 1, 1862 in Darsin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .
Life
Origin and family
Otto von Bonin was a member of the Pomeranian noble family von Bonin . His parents were the Prussian Lieutenant General Ernst Friedrich Otto von Bonin (1761-1822) and his wife Sophie, née von Podewils (1773-1818) from the house of Lupow. The Prussian general of the infantry Eduard von Bonin (1793–1865) was an older brother.
Bonin married Hedwig Luise Frederike Albertine von Kamptz (1803–1868), the widow of his cousin, the Pomeranian Chief President Wilhelm von Bonin (1786–1852), and daughter of the Prussian Minister of Justice Karl Albert von Kamptz (1769–1849).
Military career
Bonin began his career in 1811 as a hussar in the 2nd Leib-Hussar Regiment , where he was promoted to portepeef ensign and secondary lieutenant in 1813 and in which he took part in the wars of liberation . For his work with Großgörschen he received the Iron Cross II. Class, for the one with Belle Alliance the Iron Cross I. Class. In addition, he fought in the battles near Bautzen , the Katzbach , Leipzig , Laon and Paris , as well as the battles near Möckern , Hochkirch, Freyburg, the Unstrut, Vitry, Châlons, Château-Thierry , Berry au Bac and Claye .
In 1815 Bonin was transferred to the 8th Hussar Regiment . In 1817 he was adjutant of the Stettin Landwehr Inspection and in 1820 was transferred to the adjutant of the 3rd Landwehr Brigade. With his promotion to prime lieutenant in 1821 he also became adjutant of the 6th Cavalry Brigade. In 1823 he moved to the 1st Guards Cavalry Brigade in the same role and rose to Rittmeister in 1824 . In 1830 he became an adjutant of the Guard Cavalry Inspection and in 1835 an adjutant of the Minister of War . In 1836 he was promoted to major and, if his position was retained, he was aggregated with the 1st Uhlan Regiment and in 1838 assigned to the same position. In 1841 he was a regular staff officer in the 11th Hussar Regiment , then in 1844 he was ad interim commander of the 4th Hussar Regiment . In 1845 he was confirmed in this position, advanced to lieutenant colonel and in 1848 to colonel . In 1850 Bonin became the commander of the 3rd Cavalry Brigade and the 4th Hussar Regiment. He rose to major general in 1852 and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with swords, in 1856 .
In the same year he received his farewell as a lieutenant general with pension granted. In 1857 he was put up for disposal with his pension .
Bonin was the holder of the Russian Order of St. Stanislaus II. Class, the Kurhessian Wilhelms-Order and the Badischer Zähringer Löwen-Order II. Class. He had withdrawn to his estates in Darsin , Groß Ruhnow , Varzmin , Zechlin , Pottangow and Vangerske , which he gradually managed himself and which had already been partially combined into a Fideikommiß in 1855 . He was the canon and patron of the Ruhnow monastery and was buried there after he died after a short illness.
