Location of Parleib in Saxony-Anhalt

Parleib is a district of the town of Gardelegen in the village of Potzehne in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt , Germany.

Today Altmark Kirchdorf Parleib is located five kilometers northeast of Calvörde and 11 kilometers southwest of the city Gardelegen in Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide on Bauerngraben Jeseritz.

history

The village of Parleib, still written Parleip in the 19th century , is possibly of Wendish origin, as Peter Wilhelm Behrends suspects. He derives the name from borolip and bor and interprets it as a spruce forest .

The first documentary mention as Partunlep comes from the year 1062, when King Heinrich IV donated an estate to the Petrus altar on the Petersberg near Goslar in the village Parleip in the Gau of Northern Thuringia. Paul Jonas Meier stated in 1896 that the village of Parleib belonged to the Gau Osterwalde, as it lies east of the Ohre and the document could therefore rather concern Bartensleben .

The community belonged to the Braunschweigischen Amt Calvörde in the district of Helmstedt . She came to the Gardelegen district in 1945 . On July 1, 1950, the Parleib parish was dissolved and incorporated into the Potzehne parish . Since Potzehne was incorporated into Gardelegen on January 1, 2010, the Parleib district has been part of the newly created village of Potzehne and the town of Gardelegen.

Culture and sights

In the Parleib cemetery there is a modern Evangelical Lutheran cemetery chapel and the local war memorial.

The Protestant Christians from Parleib are of the Evangelical Lutheran denomination and belong to the parish of Jeseritz-Parleib / Altmark in the Evangelical Lutheran Parish Association Calvörde-Uthmöden in the Provostei Vorsfelde of the Evangelical Lutheran regional church in Braunschweig .
