Siems belongs to the village of Sichau and is part of the Hanseatic town of Gardelegen in the Altmark district of Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark village of Siems is a good two kilometers southwest of Sichau and just under two kilometers north of Mieste in the west of Gardelegen on the Siems moat, which forms the Sichauer Beeke in the east of the village with the Tarnefitzer Elbe.

history

Siems was first mentioned in 1472 as the desert dorp Zimiz . Further mentions are 1540 Simitz , 1598 the desert village Simitz . In 1693 the von Alvensleben family owned Siemsen or Sieniz as a fief from the Königslutter monastery . Later the place was desolate again . In 1827 a farm with the administrator's apartment, day laborer's apartments, farm buildings and a sheep farm was built. In 1840 the Vorwerk belongs to Weteritz. From 1871 it is listed in official registers as belonging to the Isenschnibbe manor district.

With the dissolution of the Isenschnibbe manor district in the spring of 1900, an independent Siems manor district was established. On September 30, 1928, this manor district was converted into a rural community.

Incorporations

On July 1, 1950, the Siems community was incorporated into Sichau from the Gardelegen district . With the incorporation of Sichau into the Hanseatic city of Gardelegen on January 1, 2011, the Siems district became part of the newly created village of Sichau and the city of Gardelegen.

Agriculture

During the land reform in 1945, the following were recorded: one property over 100 hectares with 228 hectares, 15 properties under 100 hectares have a total of 58 hectares. Of this, 228 hectares were expropriated and 65.3 hectares divided. 18.3 hectares went to four poor farmers who owned less than five hectares, 36 hectares to four farm workers and 11 hectares to a resettler . In 1986 an agricultural production cooperative was named "Gustav Flemming" with a part of the company in Sichau and Siems cowshed.

Social

The former manor house (manor house) in Siems is of supraregional importance. After 1945 it served as a children's home and is now used by a charitable addiction aid association of the Catholic diocese of Magdeburg as a dormitory for people with addiction problems.

religion

The Protestant Christians from Siems used to belong to the parish of Wernitz and thus to the parish of Weteritz. Today they are the parish area Mieste the church district Salzwedel, in Propst Sprengel Stendal Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany serves.
