Köckte is a town and part of the Hanseatic town of Gardelegen in the Altmark district of Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark Kirchdorf Köckte located on the eastern edge of the fen area nature park Drömling , about 20 kilometers west of the Hanseatic city Gardelegen. To the west of the village, the Brandgraben and the Köckter Wiesengraben flow into the Friedrichskanal .

history

Köckte emerged as a round square village with a church on the square, as can be seen from the Urmeßtischbaltt from 1823.

Köckte was first mentioned in 1394 as dat dorp to kokede , when Gebhard von Bernebroke sold the villages of Köckte, Trippigleben, Breitenfeld and Tarnefitz to Dukes Bernhard and Heinrich for 45 marks.

Drömlingskarte by Samuel Walther 1737

The Streithorst (labeled No. 9 on the Drömling map by Samuel Walter) was an elevated area in the Drömling ( Horst ) that had been in dispute between Oebisfelde and Köckte since 1655. In 1734 the process was ended. The problem with the Mithut and pasture on the Buchhorst, Brömerheide and Meelhorst was solved by the division of the Meelhorst.

In 1910 there were 700 inhabitants in Köckte.

In 1953 the first type III agricultural production cooperative, the LPG "Mienenberg", was established. In the same year the LPG “Geschwister Scholl” was founded.

Incorporations

The municipality Köckte was on 25 July 1952 from the district Gardelegen in the circuit blocks reclassified. After its dissolution, she joined the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel on July 1, 1994. On January 1, 2011, the municipality of Köckte was incorporated into the Hanseatic City of Gardelegen by law and thus became a locality and a district of Gardelegen.
