Ziepel is a district of the Hanseatic city of Gardelegen in the Altmark district of Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark village of Ziepel is located about three kilometers southwest of Gardelegen city center. Mildness flows to the east . To the west is the 90 meter high Black Mountain in the Weteritzer Forest forest area.

history

Ziepel was laid out as a round square village, as can be seen from the Urmes table sheet from 1823.

In 1206, the Stendal Cathedral Monastery had two courtyards in Ciple , as stated in a document from 1207. The historian Peter Rohrlach writes: "It is not certain whether this is Ziepel".

In 1380 the squire Hans Maurin (Mourin) was apparently the fiefdom owner of Ziepel, as well as the pond on the Feldmark, which was exchanged for the town of Gardelegen in 1410. Until 1465, Stake, a citizen of Gardelegen, owned property in the village. In 1465 the von Alvensleben owned property in the village, which is to remain at the Gardelegen castle. However, since the von der Schulenburg had an older right to the attack, they entered the fiefdom in 1465.

The oldest documents listed by Wilhelm Zahn 1107 kipli, 1207 ciple, tzypel cannot be determined according to Peter Rohrlach.

About one kilometer to the east is the Hoppenmühle residential area , a former water mill.
