Wiepke is a town and part of the Hanseatic town of Gardelegen in the Altmark district of Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
The Altmark church village Wiepke is located on the B 71 about nine kilometers north of the old town of Gardelegen between the districts of Zichtau , Engersen and Estedt on the northern edge of the Hellberge . To the south-west of the locality is the source moor Elf Quellen , from which the Wiepker Bach rises, which meets the Zichtauer Bäke in the northeast, which flows into the Milde .
history
Wiepke was first mentioned as wybeke in 1412 when the village was pillaged by the Magdeburgers. The report can be found in a complaint and damage calculation of the Margrave Friedrich von Brandenburg of May 24, 1420 against the Magdeburg Archbishop Günther because of the damage to the country by the Archbishop and his subjects. Further mentions are the village of wibeke in 1430, Wipeck in 1541 and Wiebeke in 1687 .
The first mention of the mills in Wiepke comes from a Lehnsbrief from 1472 as dat dorp Wibeke ... Darto dy Mollen , as Elector Albrecht of Brandenburg Werner and Gebhard von Alvensleben with lock and Bailiwick Gardelegen provides loans .
In 1804 the village is called Wiepke with three water mills.
Incorporations
On July 1, 1994, the community was reclassified from the Gardelegen district to the Altmark district of Salzwedel . By means of a territorial change agreement, the municipality council of Wiepke decided on May 28, 2009 that the municipality of Wiepke should be incorporated into the Hanseatic city of Gardelegen. This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2010.
After incorporation of the previously independent community Wiepke, Wiepke becomes part of the Hanseatic city of Gardelegen. For the incorporated municipality, the local constitution according to §§ 86 ff. Of the municipality code of Saxony-Anhalt is introduced. The incorporated community of Wiepke and the future district of Wiepke will become the locality of the receiving Hanseatic city of Gardelegen. A local council with seven members including the local mayor is formed in the incorporated community and now the village of Wiepke.
