“I'm good, I'm good, I'm great.
I know it's been some time now I'm mixing the drink.
I just need a girl who can really understand.
I just need a girl who can really understand.

I'm good, I'm good, I'm great
I know it's been some time now I'm mixing the drink.
I just need a girl who can really understand.

Reviews

Johannes Jimeno from the German-language online magazine laut.de rated the album with 4/5 stars and praised the visual and musical aesthetics that go hand in hand and complement each other. Mostly dark beat structures, unmistakable 80s influence, ballads and Weeknd's wonderful voice would form a consistent framework. Party Monster shows that immediately when threatening synths feed his lines about bed stories and drugs. Towards the end Lana Del Rey breathes “Paranoid” into the microphone several times, the beat becomes heavier and more distorted.

Nina Francesca Nagele from the German hip-hop magazine Juice described Party Monster as an independent piece compared to the rest of the album Starboy, away from the “zeitgeist wave”. She suspects that this is due to co-author Lana Del Rey. With a soft, just as eerie beat, the song seems like an homage to Weeknd's dark R&B beginnings, when ketamine consumption still shaped the sound image.
