Paul Friedrich Alexander Detmering , from Detmering since 1896 , (born January 23, 1831 in Ludwigslust ; † December 6, 1918 in Schwerin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Paul was the son of the Mecklenburg-Schwerin stable master Heinrich Philipp Ludwig Detmering (1803-1851) and his wife Friederike Karoline Luise Adolfine, née Eggers (1812-1886).

Military career

Detmering attended grammar school in Schwerin and joined the Mecklenburg Dragoon Regiment on April 11, 1849 as a dragoon . In the same year he took part with the regiment during the suppression of the Baden Revolution in the battles near Käfertal , Großsachsen and the Oos . After Detmering had been promoted to secondary lieutenant on September 9, 1849 , he was assigned to the riding school in Hanover from October 11, 1855 to September 30, 1857 . Meanwhile promoted to Prime Lieutenant there, Detmering acted from July 1 to September 30, 1858 as leader of the 3rd Squadron during the contraction of the X Federal Corps near Nordstemmen . After serving in his regiment was commissioned him on April 1, 1862 again with the leadership of the squadron and gave detmering on 21 April 1862 the character as captain . He received the patent for this rank on November 25, 1862. For the duration of the mobile relationship on the occasion of the German War , Detmering was the leader of the replacement squadron of his regiment in 1866, but without taking part in combat operations. When he was promoted to major on September 22, 1867, he was transferred to the Grand Ducal Mecklenburg Dragoon Regiment No. 18 as a regular staff officer .

In this position, Detmering was taken over into the Prussian Army on October 10, 1868 . His patent was dated June 10, 1868. At the beginning of the war against France , he and his regiment were initially deployed to secure the coast in 1870, before the unit was set off for France at the end of August 1870. There Detmering took part in the association of the 17th Division in the sieges of Toul , Metz and Paris . After taking Chartres he was in December 1870 by Major General von Tresckow briefly as commander used the city. After the regiment commander Oberstleutnant Ernst von Rathenow fell ill, Detmering was commissioned to represent the regiment on January 7, 1871. After the peace treaty , Major Arthur von Wolffersdorff was entrusted with the management of the regiment on September 26, 1871, and Detmering returned to his previous position as a regular staff officer. In the same capacity he was transferred to the West Prussian Uhlan Regiment No. 1 in Militsch on June 20, 1872 , and promoted to lieutenant colonel on September 2, 1873 . Under position à la suite, he was commissioned on December 17, 1873 with the command of the 2nd Leib-Hussar Regiment No. 2 in Posen . On February 17, 1874 Detmering was commander of the regiment and on March 22, 1876 colonel . As such, he was commissioned under position à la suite on March 14, 1882 with the leadership of the 16th Cavalry Brigade in Trier . On March 22, 1852, Detmering was appointed commander of this large unit and on September 13, 1882 was promoted to major general . In this capacity he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle II Class with Oak Leaves on September 23, 1884 . Under ceremony of the character as a lieutenant general detmering was on 12 June 1886 in approval of his leave request with the statutory board for disposition made. In recognition of his many years of service, Detmering was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Griffin on October 21, 1894 . He was also raised to hereditary nobility on January 18, 1896 .

family

Detmering married Frieda Minna Johanna Bühring (1836–1922) on July 24, 1863 in Schwerin. Several children emerged from the marriage, including the sons Paul Karl Alfred and Victor Wilhelm Johann.
