Career
Peter Regin began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with Herning Blue Fox , for which he was active in the AL-Bank Ligaen from 2002 to 2005 . With its team, the center became Danish champions for the first time in its first year . In the 2003/04 season he was elected Rookie of the Year for the AL-Bank Ligaen. In the 2004/05 season he was again with Herning Danish champions and also voted the best Danish player in the league. During his time in Herning he was also selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the third round as a total of 87th player by the Ottawa Senators .
From 2005 to 2008 Regin first played for three years for Timrå IK in the Swedish Elitserien before he made his debut for the Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League in the 2008/09 season . However, the Dane spent most of the season with their farm team , the Binghamton Senators from the American Hockey League . From the 2009/10 season he was a regular in Ottawa. In July 2013, Regin signed a one-year contract with the New York Islanders , before he was transferred to the Chicago Blackhawks in February 2014 in exchange for a right to vote . These gave it to the Rockford IceHogs as part of the preparation for the 2014/15 season . During the season Regin came to only four NHL missions and spent the rest of the time with the IceHogs in the AHL.
After the 2014/15 season he returned to Europe and joined the Jokerit from the Continental Hockey League . The Dane was appointed team captain for the 2016/17 season and soon received a contract extension until the end of the 2019/20 season . Regin did not receive a follow-up contract in summer 2020.
