The Norwegian Jade (formerly Pride of Hawaii (dt .: Pride of Hawaii )) is on the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg built cruise ship of the Panamax -size.
It is 294.14 meters long (overall length), 32.2 meters wide, (37.88 m above sea level) and has a draft of 8.60 meters. The ship is measured with 93,558 GT. On board, 2466 passengers can be accommodated in 1233 cabins, and there is space for around 1100 crew members. The five MAN - diesel generators with a total of 72,000 kW generating power for the two pod drives with a total of 53,000 kW and for the entire board operation. The maximum speed is 25 knots.
history
On July 16, 2004, construction of the Pride of Hawaii began . The ship was under construction as the Pride of Hawaii from spring 2005 to spring 2006 and was undocked on February 19, 2006. The Ems transfer took place on March 12, 2006, and the ship arrived in Eemshaven on March 13, 2006 ; From there, test drives on the North Sea started until delivery . On April 3, 2006, the Pride of Hawaii came to dry dock in Hamburg for a few days to make improvements to the drive. It expired there on April 6, 2006. To check the pod drive, the Pride of Hawaii was in the dock of Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven from April 15 to 19, 2006 .
On April 19, 2006, the "Pride of Hawaii" was delivered by Meyer Werft to NCL Corporation Ltd., Miami / USA . The ship was transferred without passengers by the shipping company to Baltimore / USA , on May 22nd the christening took place in Los Angeles ; then it took up the regular cruise service off Hawaii for NCL America .
On Monday, November 12th, 2007 it was confirmed that 225 of the 2500 passengers were infected with human noroviruses . The ship was returning to the port of Honolulu after a seven day voyage . The US Department of Health opened an investigation.
In February 2008 the ship was withdrawn from the Hawaii market. After a short renovation in the dock, it was incorporated into the rest of the NCL fleet under the new name Norwegian Jade . It has been used in European waters since the 2008 summer season. According to a statement by the shipping company, the Norwegian Jade was the first NCL ship to remain stationed in Europe all year round. She offered various Mediterranean cruises all year round : in the summer half-year from Venice the eastern Mediterranean and the Adriatic , in winter stationed in Civitavecchia , where she also sailed to the eastern Mediterranean, partly as far as the Middle East.
During the 2014 Olympic Games , the ship served as a hotel ship in Sochi .
commitment
In winter the ship sails from Miami to the Caribbean, in summer 2018 from Southampton and Hamburg to Northern Europe. In the summer of 2019, the jade will sail the western Mediterranean.
