Qatar Classic 2013

The Qatar Classic 2013 took place from November 8th to 15th, 2013 at the Aspire Academy in Doha , Qatar . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2013/14 and belonged to the World Series Platinum category .

The defending champion from the last event in 2011 was Grégory Gaultier , who was eliminated in the quarter-finals that year. The tournament was won by Mohamed Elshorbagy , who was fifth , who won against reigning world champion Nick Matthew in five sets with 11: 5, 5:11, 11: 6, 6:11 and 11: 4. For Elshorbagy it was the first title win at a tournament of the World Series.

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 32 players, eight of which were starting places for qualifiers. Per Wildcard received Abdulla Mohd Al Tamimi a spot in the main draw.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize pool was $ 150,000.
