Qatar Classic 2006

The Qatar Classic 2006 took place from April 13th to 17th, 2007 in Doha , Qatar . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2006/07 and belonged to the Super Series category . The prize money was $ 120,000. The women's squash tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2006/07 and belonged to the WSA Gold 50 category . The prize money was $ 82,000. Due to construction work at the venue, the tournament was held in April 2007 instead of December 2006 as planned.

Defending champion was James Willstrop , who was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Ramy Ashour that year . Ashour also reached the final by defeating David Palmer 8:11, 11: 9, 11: 9 and 11: 6. Nicol David won the women's title, she won the final against Natalie Grinham 9: 7, 2: 9, 9: 7 and 9: 2. Last year's winner Vanessa Atkinson was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Grinham.

The fields of participants in the men's and women's competitions consisted of 32 players each, eight of which were reserved for qualifiers for men and six for women. The best 16 players were each seeded. Per Wildcard received Abdul Rahman Al-Malki a spot in the main draw of the men, while no wild card was awarded with the ladies.
