Qatar Classic 2005

The Qatar Classic 2005 took place from November 22nd to 27th, 2005 in Doha , Qatar . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2005/06 and belonged to the Super Series category . The prize money was $ 125,000. The women's tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2005/06 and belonged to the WSA Platinum category . The prize money was $ 105,000.

Defending champion of the last event from the 2003 season was Lee Beachill , who was eliminated in the first round this year. In the final, met James Willstrop and David Palmer each other. The game ended 11: 1, 11: 7 and 11: 7 in favor of Willstrops, who won the tournament for the first time. Vanessa Atkinson successfully defended her title from last year in the women's category. In the final she beat Vicky Botwright 9: 7, 9: 4 and 9: 2. While it was Willstrop's fifth career title, Atkinson already won her 17th Tour title. In addition, By winning the tournament, Atkinson secured his first jump to the top of the world rankings on December 1, 2005.

The fields of participation in the men's and women's competition consisted of 32 players each, eight of which were reserved for qualifiers. The best 16 players were each seeded. Per Wildcard received Abdul Rahman Al-Malki a spot in the main draw of the men, the women's no wild card was awarded.
