Qatar Classic 2001

The Qatar Classic 2001 took place from October 1-8, 2001 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha , Qatar . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2001/02 and belonged to the Super Series Platinum category . The prize money was $ 140,000. The women's tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2001/02 and belonged to the WSA Gold 50 category . The prize money was $ 60,000.

In the final, third seeded Peter Nicol met top seeded David Palmer . The game ended with 15:12, 15: 5, 10:15, 12:15 and 15:10 in favor of Nicol. Defending champion Jonathon Power failed in the quarterfinals to John White . The first ever women's competition was won by Sarah Fitz-Gerald , who clearly defeated Leilani Joyce 9: 0, 9: 2 and 9: 1 in the final.

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 32 players, eight of which were reserved for qualifiers. The 16 best players were seeded. In the women's field, the field consisted of 16 players, four of whom were qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded. Wildcards were not given.
