Ranzig ( Lower Sorbian Rańšyk ) is a district of the Tauche municipality in the Oder-Spree district in Brandenburg . Until December 31, 2001, Ranzig was an independent municipality administered by the Tauche Office.

location

Ranzig is located in Niederlausitz , on the southern edge of the Beeskower Platte and directly on Ranziger See . The district town of Beeskow is about seven kilometers, the city of Lübben about 29 kilometers away. Surrounding villages are the district of Beeskow belonging to Kohlsdorf in the north, Kummerow in the municipality Friedland in the northeast, Leißnitz in the east, Glowe in the southeast, Trebatsch in the south, Briescht in the southwest, Stremmen in the west and Tauche in the northwest.

The federal highway 87 from Lübben to Frankfurt (Oder) runs in north-south direction through the place. Furthermore, the district road 6723 begins in Ranzig and leads from there to Tauche. From its eastern neighboring towns Rancid Rancid by the lake, which is Leißnitzsee , the Glower lake and the Schwielochsee and the Spree separately. history

Ranzig was first mentioned in a document as Wranzck in 1393 . In 1496 the name was mentioned as "Rantzigk". Ernst Eichler derives the place name from the Old Sorbian word "vron", which in this context means roughly "place where there are ravens ". According to the historical local lexicon, Ranzig was part of the Beeskow rule at the latest when its borders were precisely recorded . Wohlbrück recorded 38 interestable hooves for 1415 , the village mayor kept four hooves, four farmers three hooves each and eleven farmers two hooves each. Residents Ranzigs were dutiable at 58 pence, four bushels of grain, eleven chickens, four almond eggs and two Metzen poppy.

As part of the Beeskow rule, the municipality of Ranzig was historically part of the Bees and Storkow District , in which the Beeskow and Storkow dominions were united . On April 30, 1815 the lords were separated, the Beeskow part was assigned to the district of Lübben . 1829 On January 1, 1836 merger took place again the area of the rule Beeskow with the Storkowischen part of the district of Teltow-Storkow for district Beeskow-Storkow . In 1841 Ranzig had 235 inhabitants and was parish in Stremmen. The village was then owned by the Zier district council.

Rancid has always belonged to the Kingdom of Prussia . On July 25, 1952, the community was assigned to the newly formed Beeskow district in the Frankfurt (Oder) district . After the reunification , Ranzig was in the Beeskow district in Brandenburg . On September 15, 1992, the community joined the Tauche / Trebatsch office, which was later renamed the Tauche office . During the district reform in Brandenburg on December 6, 1993 , the Beeskow district merged with two other districts to form the Oder-Spree district . On December 31, 2001, the municipality of Ranzig was merged with ten other municipalities to form the new municipality of Tauche . On October 26, 2003, the Tauche Office was dissolved.
