Eurasburg is a municipality and a village in the Bavarian-Swabian district of Aichach-Friedberg .

Districts

There are 11 officially named municipal parts (the type of settlement is given in brackets ):

history

The village is located in the settlement area from the Hallstatt period 200 BC. BC, as shown by barrows in the vicinity. The name is related to the Kirchberg, on which the remains of a castle path and a filled-in castle well were found. Towards the end of the 13th century, the Romanesque Church of the Holy Cross was built in the keep, which today forms the sanctuary of the enlarged church. The devastating consequences of the Thirty Years' War bring the emerging place to an abrupt end. Eurasburg was part of the Munich Rent Office and the Friedberg District Court of the Electorate of Bavaria. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria, today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818.

It was not until the establishment of a post office in 1760 that Eurasburg was brought back into the history books. Up to 40 horses were kept here. Located on the Munich - Dachau - Augsburg route , the place benefited from the brisk mail traffic and, above all, from the money of the coachmen, post office keepers and travelers. The traffic route connected “those who live in the Holzwinkel” to the world. The celebrities of their time are passing through: W. A. Mozart 1777, Pope Pius VI. , 1782 and Max Joseph I. are recorded in the books of the post office. After the opening of the railway line from Munich to Augsburg in 1840, long-distance traffic shifted to the railway. The Poststrasse, which had been lively until then, sinks into insignificance. When the last stagecoach drove in 1911, Eurasburg still had 700 inhabitants. Before that, the royal stable master Ignaz Heckel of Munich founded a school in the Benefiziatenhaus in 1823. Eurasburg rejected a joint school with Rinnenthal and Rehrosbach in 1888 and seven years later built its own school with two teachers. In 1990 it was replaced by a new building on the northern outskirts.
