Karl Rudolf Heinrich Freiherr von Wechmar (born November 26, 1823 in Breslau , † October 18, 1881 in Groß Tschunkawe ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Rudolf was a son of the Prussian Rittmeister Ferdinand Ludwig Heinrich von Wechmar (1785–1834) and his wife Charlotte, née von Johnston (1798–1865).

Military career

Wechmar attended private schools in Breslau and Liegnitz as well as the cadet houses in Potsdam and Berlin . During his training in Berlin he was the personal page of Princess Marianne of Prussia . On August 12, 1841, Wechmar was transferred to the 6th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a second lieutenant . He was sent to the General War School for further training in October 1848 and subsequently became a battalion adjutant and, from May 1852, a regimental adjutant. As prime lieutenant , Wechmar became adjutant at the General Command of the 1st Army Corps at the end of March 1858 and was promoted to captain in September 1858 . At the beginning of May 1860 he was commanded as a company commander in the 6th Combined Infantry Regiment. With the budgeting for the 1st Lower Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 46 , he was appointed Chief of the 11th Company in Poznan shortly afterwards . On February 8, 1863 Wechmar was then the General Staff of the High Command of the I. , II. , V. and VI. Left in his command, he was transferred to the General Staff of the 7th Division at the end of May 1863 and promoted to major in mid-September 1863 . Released from his command of the Werder Command in mid-November 1864, Wechmar was transferred to the General Staff of the V Army Corps at the end of the month. In this position he took part in the Battle of Skalitz and the enclosure of Josefstadt under General von Steinmetz during the war against Austria in 1866 and received the Order of the Red Eagle III for his behavior in the Battle of Nachod . Wechmar was awarded both classes of the Iron Cross and the Knight's Cross of the Military Karl Friedrich Order of Merit after the Peace of Frankfurt on July 15, 1871, as commander of the 1st Baden Leib Grenadier Regiment No. 109 in the Association of the Prussian Army accepted. For his careful behavior with Nuits and Belfort, Emperor Wilhelm I awarded him the order Pour le Mérite on January 19, 1873 at the instigation of the Commanding General von Werder . On December 12th, 1873, Wechmar was commissioned with the command of the 21st Infantry Brigade in Breslau under the position of his regiment, and on February 14th, 1874 he was appointed commander of this brigade and promoted to major general in early May 1874 . After several vacations, Wechmar submitted his departure for health reasons . Wechmar had married Klara von Koszutska (1830–1915) on June 30, 1852 in Groß Tschunkawe. The following children were born from the marriage:
