Schwickershausen is a district of Bad Camberg in the Limburg-Weilburg district in Central Hesse . Schwickershausen has over 550 inhabitants, making it the second smallest district of Bad Camberg.
Geographical location
Schwickershausen is about three kilometers northeast of the center of Bad Camberg in the Dombachtal , a side valley of the Goldener Grund at the foot of the cow bed in the eastern Hintertaunus . The district town of Limburg an der Lahn is located around 18 kilometers northwest.
The district is stretched in a south-west-north-east direction. It borders in the north on Erbach and in the south on the core town Bad Camberg and on the Kuhbett in the northeast at a point on Hasselbach and thus on the Hochtaunuskreis . The district area is taken up by some forest and above all agricultural area. Close to the cow bed it reaches up to 520 meters, in the west of the district around 320 meters. The village of Schwickershausen itself is 266 meters above sea level. Geologically, the area is dominated by slate- containing greywacke with quartz veins.
history
The first written mention of the place took place in 1276 as "Swikirhusin". The mention was made in a document dated September 18, 1276 , in which Theoderich, the abbot of the Maria Laach monastery, stipulated that the village of Schwikirhusin had to deliver 30 Malter grain to the Seligenstatt monastery in the Westerwald . The former Hofgut is located in the center of the old town center. The mill and church on the opposite side of the Dombach represent a second core of the settlement.
In 1835 the place got its own school house , in which teaching was carried out until 1968. In 1840, Schwickershausen and Dombach formed an independent Catholic parish. On January 1, 2012, the double parish Dombach-Schwickershausen was integrated into the new parish of St. Peter and Paul, which includes all of today's Bad Camberg districts.
In 1891 the road leading into the village was extended to the through road into the Weiltal . In 1904 the village received a central water supply .
In the 1960s, two new development areas were built. The incorporation to Bad Camberg took place on July 1, 1974 as part of the regional reform in Hesse by virtue of state law. In 2001 the village community center was renovated and expanded.
