The Scottish League Challenge Cup was played for the 14th time in 2004/05 . The Scottish football competition, officially known as Bell's Challenge Cup was held, started on 31 July 2004 and ended with the final on November 7, 2004 at the McDiarmid Park of Perth . The defending champion was Inverness Caledonian Thistle , who beat Airdrie United in the final last year . The clubs of the Scottish Football League took part in the competition. In this year's final, FC Falkirk prevailed against Ross County and won the Challenge Cup for the third time in the club's history.
