Sergei Dolidovich ( Belarusian Сяргей Далідовіч ; Russian Сергей Николаевич Долидович / Sergei Nikolayevich Dolidowitsch * 18th May 1973 in Orsha , Byelorussian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Belarusian skiers . He has competed in international races for more than 20 years and has participated in seven Winter Olympic Games since 1994 .

Career

First years

Dalidowitsch made his international debut at two FIS races in Tauplitz in early December 1993 . After good results there he made his debut in the cross-country skiing world cup on December 11, 1993 . Although he was unsuccessful in his first races, he traveled as part of the Belarusian team to the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer . After rank 70 over 10 km and rank 37 over 30 km, he did not start in the individual race over 50 km. In the pursuit he landed in 51st place before the 20-year-old ran with the team in the relay race in 12th place.

In the following World Cups he remained without a place in the points. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1995 in Thunder Bay , Dalidowitsch ran over 10 km in 47th place, before reaching 51st place over 50 km.

In his second World Cup race of the 1995/96 season in Gällivare , he ran as 26th over 15 km in free style for the first time in the World Cup points. Until the end of the season and the race in Falun , it was Dalidowitsch's only point placement. At the beginning of the 1996/07 season he started for a race in the Cross-Country Continental Cup , but came back to the World Cup after seventh place in Kittilä .

Although he was in the points in Oberstdorf and Hakuba , he was used again in the Continental Cup before the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1997 in Trondheim in Muju, where he achieved a very good podium finish in second place in the first race over 15 km. At the World Championships he clearly missed a top placement as 35th over 30 km and 43rd over 10 km in classic style. In the pursuit over 25 km, however, Dalidowitsch surprised with a good 20th place, before he even finished 12th in the individual over 50 km.

1998 to 2001

Although Dalidowitsch did not get any further places in the World Cup, he traveled to Nagano for his second Olympic Winter Games . After he could not finish the individual race over 10 km, he landed in the individual over 30 km in 36th place. In the individual race over 50 km he finished 31st before he reached 14th place with the 4 × 10 km relay. At the beginning of the 1998/99 season he managed to get into the points again in Davos . After he was able to win an FIS race in Štrbské Pleso a little later , he was part of the team at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1999 in Ramsau am Dachstein . After 32nd place over 30 km in free style, Dalidowitsch landed only on a weak 43rd place over 10 km in classic style. The other two competitions went better for him. He finished 26th in the pursuit over 25 km. He achieved his best result with 21st place over 50 km.

In the 1999/00 season started Dalidowitsch with a good 19th place at the World Cup in Sappada . A little later he won another FIS race in Kirovsk . Despite this success, he paused internationally until December. It was not until December 8, 2000 that it was used again in a World Cup race in Santa Caterina and ran over 10 km in tenth place for the first time among the top ten. When a few weeks later in Lahti discharged FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2001 Dalidowitsch ran in pursuit on the 28th place before m in the individual race over 50 finished the race in 19th place. After two points in Kawgolowo and Borlänge , Dalidowitsch won his first World Cup over the 60 km long distance in Kuopio .

2002 to 2004

Although he achieved after his World Cup victory at the end of the 2000/01 season no successes at the beginning of the following 2001/02 season, he went in February at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City . For the first time he reached the top 20 in an Olympic race and finished the individual race over 30 km in 14th place. With the relay he landed in 15th place. Despite the good result in the individual run, Dalidowitsch did not contest a World Cup until the end of the season.

A year later at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2003 in the Italian Val di Fiemme was run over 30 km first held as a mass start. However, the Belarusian did not get past 32nd place. Surprisingly, he finished 12th in the following 2 × 10 km double pursuit.

In the 2003/04 season , Dalidowitsch first started in the Continental Cup and finally switched back to the World Cup in December, where he again achieved a top 10 position after a long time in sixth place in the Dobbiaco race . He also proved his good mileage in Ramsau as 14th. Until the end of the season, however, he was unable to build on these successes. In April 2004 Dalidowitsch again reached two top 10 ranks in the Continental Cup in Murmansk .

2005 to 2009

After Dalidowitsch narrowly missed another World Cup podium in Ramsau in December 2004 as fourth over 30 km, he was again part of the Belarusian squad at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf . After 36th place over 15 km, he finished in a very good sixth place in the double pursuit. In the team sprint, which was held for the first time, he and his partner took tenth place. In the mass start individual over 50 km, Dalidowitsch was 20th again.

At the age of 32, Dalidowitsch took part in his fourth Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006 . However, after he imposed a protective ban of five days after a first doping test because of an excessively high hemoglobin value. Even after another test in Minsk and again high values, the ban was extended by another five days. After his clearance he started in the 50 km singles on the last day of the games and came in 12th place. Dalidowitsch led the race for a long time, but two kilometers from the finish he collided with an Austrian coach who wanted to feed one of his athletes and fell. At the end of the season at the World Cup in Oslo he showed a similarly good performance as 14th over the same distance. Also for the 2006/07 season Dalidowitsch belonged again to the A-squad in the World Cup. He finished the Tour de Ski 2006/2007 in 38th place. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 in Sapporo , he was able to run 12th in the individual over 15 km to a good place, before he only landed a disappointing 13th place with the relay over 4 × 10 km. In the individual race over 50 km he did not reach the goal and had to give up. A little later, Dalidowitsch was on a podium again in the Eastern Europe Cup in Krasnogorsk as second after a long 15 km.

In January 2009 Dalidowitsch managed to get on the podium again in Rybinsk as third in the World Cup. He then traveled to Liberec as a contender for a medal at the 2009 Nordic World Ski Championships . However, he just missed a medal there in fifth over 50 km. End of March 2009, he was at the FIS Cross-Country World Cup in Falun for exceeding the hemoglobin threshold with a five-day protective barrier occupied.

Since 2010

After Dalidowitsch again achieved a top 10 place in Rybinsk in January 2010, he traveled a little later to the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver . In his fifth game, the now 36-year-old had to admit defeat to the younger competition and did not achieve any top placements.

Dalidowitsch was able to surprise once again at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 2011 . In the pursuit race over 30 km he only narrowly failed to get his first world championship medal and finished fourth. He also crossed the finish line in good tenth over 50 km. In April 2011 he won the 50 km freestyle at the Murmansk Ski Marathon . After the 2010/11 season, Dalidowitsch finally wanted to retire from international skiing, but changed his mind again because he wanted to take part in the Olympic Games again.

With the Tour de Ski 2011/2012 he competed in this traditional competition for the second time and ended up in 31st place after good individual results. After mixed performances, Dalidowitsch managed to win a national title over 15 km in free style for the first time at the Belarusian Championships in Minsk in 2013 win. He also won silver in the skiathlon. At the end of March 2013 he won the Murmansk Skimarathon over 50 km freestyle.

In his 20th year in the World Cup, he achieved his best result so far on the Tour with 27th place in the Tour de Ski 2013/2014 . The now 40-year-old then traveled to his sixth 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi . After finishing 34th in the skiathlon, he finished 15 km in classic style in 53rd place. With the season he landed in 14th place. In the individual race over 50 km he finished 5th. In April 2014, as in the previous year, he won the Murmansk marathon over 50 km freestyle. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun , he finished 19th in the 15 km freestyle, 14th place with the relay and 11th place in the team sprint. In the summer of 2015 he won the pursuit race in Madona . In March 2016 he won the Murmansk Skimarathon over 50 km freestyle.

In 2018 , Dalidowitsch took part in the Olympic Games for the seventh time. He is the first cross-country skier in the world to achieve this number of participants. However, he only played the skiathlon in these games , in which he gave up the race after a few kilometers .
