Last year's winner was Raneem El Weleily , who defeated Nour El Sherbini in four sets last year . While El Weleily was eliminated in five sets in the semifinals against Nour El Tayeb , El Sherbini reached the World Cup final for the fourth time in a row. She defeated El Tayeb, who was in the final for the first time, with 11: 6, 11: 5, 10:12 and 15:13. This was El Sherbini's third title win after 2015 and 2016 .
The field of participants in the women's competition consisted of 64 players. The best 56 players in the world rankings from January 2019 qualified automatically, the best 32 of them were seeded. Five places were from the PSA awarded through qualifying tournaments on the PSA Challenger Tour, another received the reigning world champion of the juniors. If these players were already qualified via the world rankings, the starting place was given either to the defeated final opponent of the respective qualifying tournament or to the next player in the world rankings.
