Suuret Suomalaiset

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Suuret suomalaiset ("Great Finns") was the title of a television program broadcast from October to December 2004 by the Finnish broadcaster Yleisradio .

Following the example of the 100 Greatest Britons , which were set with great success on the BBC in 2002 , the Finnish television audience was asked to vote on which Finn was the most important in history. In Germany the format ran under the title Our Best . The vote was carried out in two rounds. In the first round, the places 11-100 were determined in an open vote, the ten personalities with the most votes reached the second round, in which the ranking of the top ten was determined. Gustaf Mannerheim was ultimately chosen as the “Greatest Finn” .
