action

Tarzan receives a letter from Jane who works as a nurse in London. She asks him to send medicine to lower fever for the wounded British soldiers. The plant from which the remedy is obtained is located in a part of the jungle that can only be reached by crossing a desert. Tarzan, his adopted son Boy and the chimpanzee Cheetah set off. On the edge of the desert, the three meet a group of men who want to capture a wild stallion. Tarzan instructs the men led by Karl Straeder to release the stallion, who then gratefully lets Boy ride on him and leads the men to an oasis.

In the oasis is the sorceress Connie Bryce, who talks to the leader of a desert tribe, Amir. Amir wants Connie to deliver a letter to his old university friend, Prince Selim. Selim is the son of Sheikh Abdul El Khim, the ruler of the desert city of Bir Herari. The previous messages could not be delivered because the messengers did not survive. Amir advises Connie to exercise extreme caution. After Amir leaves, some nomads want to see Connie perform some magic tricks. Connie tells her to saw through. At that moment Tarzan appears and thinks Connie's life is in danger. After Connie's “liberation”, he realizes his mistake and offers to accompany her to Bir Herari.

When Tarzan arrives in town on the stallion named Jayne, Karl and his partner Paul Hendrix accuse him of stealing the horse. Tarzan is arrested, but orders Boy to protect Connie. Hendrix offers the stallion to the Sheikh as a gift. Prince Selim, however, distrusts the men. Connie decides to meet the prince later that evening. She is led by guards to Selim, to whom she hands over the message from Amir. In it, Amir Selim warns against Straeder and Hendrix, who work as spies and stir up other tribes and supply them with weapons. The two spies overhear the conversation and, after Connie has left, penetrate to Selim and kill him. They want to steal the message, but Cheetah is quicker and grabs the letter.

Hendrix accuses Connie of murdering Prince Selim. She is arrested and sentenced to death. With the help of Boy and Cheetah, Tarzan escapes from his cell. When Connie is brought to the gallows, Tarzan gallops up to Jayne and pulls her to his horse. Tarzan, Connie, Boy and Cheetah flee into the desert, but are pursued by Hendrix and his men. When a sandstorm approaches, they seek refuge in a caravanserai. After the storm they move on to the jungle with the medicinal plant, still hunted by Hendrix. When they reach the jungle, Tarzan leaves the others to look for the plant.

Boy and Connie sneak up on Hendrix and Straeder. They are still being followed by the spies and their men. Back in the jungle, Straeder is attacked by a lion. A giant lizard appears from the undergrowth, whereupon Connie and Boy seek shelter in a cave. There Boy gets caught in a huge spider web. Cheetah alerts Tarzan, who is swinging on lianas through the jungle. He notices Hendrix aiming a rifle at Connie. Tarzan descends on Hendrix and pushes him into the spider web. Tarzan frees Boy, the spider approaches Hendrix. Tarzan, Boy and Connie return to Bir Herari. There Connie hands the letter to the sheikh. Tarzan gives Connie, who wants to travel back to London, the medicinal plant and returns to his tree house with Boy and Cheetah.
