The Telluride Film Festival Silver Medallion is an American film award that is awarded annually at the Telluride Film Festival .

history

The Silver Medallion has been awarded since the first Telluride Film Festival in 1974. The prize was initially awarded to three people each year who had made a “significant contribution to the world of cinema”. Occasionally, prizes were given to groups of people, organizations, magazines, films or television series.

Since 1995 a fourth Silver Medallion has been awarded to a filmmaker, film historian, film critic or an organization that has made a contribution to the art of film.
