Public facilities
Since the 1250th anniversary there has been a museum in Uffing that tells the story of Uffing's history from the time it was founded until today. Many of the furnishings were collected over decades by various villagers and made available for the opening of the museum. Some of the exhibits are the built miniatures that were lovingly crafted on the occasion of the procession for the 1250th anniversary.
The history of the Heimatmuseum began back in 1989 when an accompanying exhibition was housed in the parish hall for the 1250th anniversary of Uffing. After the end of the festive events, suitable presentation rooms were sought for the props of the procession and some of the exhibits that remained in the community. In the old fire station, built in 1949, they found what they were looking for and housed the exhibition there. This building functioned as an exhibition space until 1995. After a major renovation, the municipality of Uffing a. Staffelsee has its own local museum, which was inaugurated in June 1996. Since that time there has been a permanent exhibition on the first floor about handicraft and farming equipment from Uffing and Schöffau, as well as memorabilia from the history of Uffing. A special gem is the old village model, which Uffing shows around 1706 and was built by master tailor Josef Mayer for the 1250th anniversary. On the ground floor there is a temporary exhibition and a permanent exhibition of works by Uffinger artists. The local history museum has now found a permanent place in the cultural life of the community and is popular with guests and locals alike. The opening times during the spring, summer and autumn seasons are on Saturday and Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.
