He studied literature and philosophy at the University of Venice , as well as museology and art critic at the UIA Venice. In Florence he worked with the Isole Comprese Teatro group in social theater. He has received the STORIE Literary Award , Rome (2010), Millennium Painting Award , Windsor & Newton (2000); Graphic International , Stockholm (1995); 2nd Prize for Literature of the City of Venice , Venetian Athenaeum (1991); Robert Schuman silver medal , Strasbourg (1990) and the National Award Poetry Selection , Italy (1990).

The German Verena Stenke (born October 18, 1981 in Bad Friedrichshall ) works as a performance artist , video artist and freelance curator for performance art. She was awarded the Nassau Culture Prize , Nassau (2011) and the ArtKontakt Prize , Tirana (2007). She lives in Neckarsulm .

Work and projects

VestAndPage work on the topics of communication, transformation, fragility and instability in the "Poetics of Relationships". The multi-layered backgrounds of the two artists in dance, theater , visual arts and philosophy also have an influence on their performance and video works . In their performance works, the concepts of collaboration and the total work of art are expressed in what the artists call "collective performance operas" and "temporary artistic communities".

In 2010 the duo initiated a global art initiative called Fragile global performance chain journey , in which over 750 international artists take part in order to carry a pane of glass around the globe and produce works of art in the process.

The experimental film trilogy sin∞fin The Movie , produced in Antarctica , Patagonia , Tierra del Fuego , Kashmir and northern India from 2010–2012 , is a spherical investigation and combines performance art with film . In 2015, VestAndPage produced the performance-based feature film Spitzwegerich (en: Plantain ) in Germany, Poland and in the Russian Kaliningrad region. Filmed on site during the artist duo's one-month hike, it takes a private family history and the historical event of the expulsions at the end of the Second World War as its starting point. VestAndPage hiked and filmed along the route taken by Stenke's ancestors during the evacuation of East Prussia in the winter of 1945. Through stories, people and personal memories, the film combines the incomprehensible and unspeakable of a past lived by another generation with a present sense of guilt.

Stenke and Pagnes are initiators and independent curators, including the Venice International Performance Art Week , which has been taking place since 2012 in historical Venetian palazzos as a performance art exhibition project and educational program with a residential character.
