Wólka Kijewska ( German  Kiöwenhorst ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the urban and rural municipality of Olecko (Marggrabowa , colloquially also: Oletzko , 1928 to 1945 Treuburg) in the powiat Olecki ( Oletzko district , 1933 to 1945 Treuburg district ).

Geographical location

The hamlet ( Polish osada ) Wólka Kijewska is located in the east of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , twelve kilometers south of the district town of Olecko .

history

The small Gutsdorf, called Kivewenhorst after 1871 and Kiöwenhorst until 1945, has only been shown on maps since 1868. Until 1945 it was a residential place within the rural community Kiöwen ( Polish: Kijewo ), which belonged to the Oletzko district (1933 to 1945 Treuburg district) in the Gumbinnen administrative district of the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1905 it comprised three houses with eight residents.

As a result of the war, Kiöwenhorst came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and since then has borne the Polish form of the name "Wólka Kijewska". Today the place is integrated into the urban and rural community Olecko .

church

Kiöwenhorst was parish in the Evangelical Church of Gonsken in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic parish church of Marggrabowa (1928 to 1945 Treuburg) in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today Wólka Kijewska belongs to the Protestant parish in Ełk ( German  Lyck ), a branch parish of the parish in Pisz (Johannisburg) in the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland , and to the Catholic parish church in Gąski in the Ełk diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland .

traffic

Wólka Kijewska lies on a side street that connects Kijewo (Kiöwen) with Zatyki (Sattycken , 1938 to 1945 Satticken) . On the eastern edge of the village, the Ełk – Chernyachovsk railway line runs with the nearest railway station in Kijewo. Today it is only used in the section to Olecko in freight traffic.
