Wall to Wall is a song by the American singer and songwriter Chris Brown . It was released on May 21, 2007 as the first single from Brown's second studio album, Exclusive , after which it reached number 79 on the Billboard Hot 100 . This makes it Brown's worst single to date in the USA. It reached rank 59 in the German single charts .

Background and remix versions

The song was written by Sean Garrett and Walter Scott , with Garrett also appearing as a producer. Garrett had also worked with Brown on several titles, including Brown's first number one hit in the US, “ Run It! ".

There are several official remix versions of "Wall to Wall". In addition to the album version, there is also a remix with Jadakiss on the maxi single . The maxi single also has a remix with Elephant Man . There is also a remix with Joe Budden and one with Lil Wayne , TI , Chamillionaire , Ludacris and Jadakiss. There are also music videos for all three versions, which, however, are similar to the original video and have only been changed in detail, and some sequences have often been added.

Music video

The video is based on the 1998 film Blade , but at the same time pays tribute to the music video for the Michael Jackson single " Thriller ". It was first shown on May 21, 2007.

In the first scene, Brown is bitten on the neck by an attractive female vampire who suddenly appears in his car. He then follows her to a place that is reminiscent of a castle, where he begins to dance. During the entire stay in the castle, dance sequences are shown again and again. At the end of the video, the camera switches from the castle back to the parking lot, where the vampire's bite also took place, and it seems as if everything that happened was just a fantasy. However, when Brown sits down in his car, the vampire reappears next to him.

success

reception

The title was described as a "contagious dance song" in which the ladies would run straight to the dance floor. One reviewer said the song had great potential to become Brown's next hit. Another review said the title is similar to other releases on his second studio album such as " Kiss Kiss ". Nevertheless, it was noted that there was no boredom while listening, even if “the freshness” was sometimes lost.
