Singles

The first single from the album was the song Yeah 3x , which was released on October 25, 2010 and reached number 15 in the US. In Germany it rose to number seven in the German single charts , which is behind Brown's debut single Run It! is the most successful song there.

The second single, Look at Me Now , was released on February 1, 2011 and reached number six in the US. It is the album's top hit song on the Billboard Hot 100 . Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne are guest musicians on the song.

The song Beautiful People (with Benni Benassi ) was selected as the third single and was released on March 11, 2011. Ranked fourth in the UK, along with the song Forever from the album Exclusive, it is behind Brown's debut single Run It! the most successful song in the local charts.

She Ain't You was the fourth single from the album and was released on March 28th. It reached position 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 and did not enter the charts in Germany.

The fifth single was Next 2 You , which featured Canadian musician Justin Bieber . The song was released on June 24, 2011 and reached number 28 in Germany and number 26 in the USA.

The sixth and final release was the song Wet the Bed . The American rapper Ludacris was a guest musician on the song, which was released on September 13, 2011 and missed any chart placement outside the USA.

The songs Deuces and No Bullshit , which can also be found on the album, were not released as singles from the album. Rather, they are singles from Chris Brown's second mixtape Fan of a Fan , which he released with Tyga in 2010. The songs were later only reused for the album.

tour

On January 19th the FAME Tour was announced, which should start with five shows in April and May in Australia. The tour should then be continued in September 2011. In total, these included 38 concerts in Australia , Canada , the USA and the United Arab Emirates .

success

Commercial win

The fourth studio album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with 270,000 units sold in its first week , making it Brown's first number one album. However, Exclusive , his second album, had higher sales in the US in the first week. At the end of April 2011, the album was awarded a gold record for 500,000 units sold in the United States.

reception

The album received average reviews and achieved a Metascore , which was based on 16 reviews, a value of 52 points. Entertainment Weekly, for example, wrote that the album deserves to be heard. Allmusic reviewer Andy Kellman thought the album was similar to Forever , which was featured on Brown's second album Exclusive . The album is slightly better than the song, and it also indicates that "the best of Brown is still to come." The website The DJ Booth rated the album rather positively and claimed that the only purpose of the album was to “keep the artist relevant” and “continue to make him marketable”. However, this was only moderately successful. Brown still has a long way to go before he can regain his old format.

Awards and nominations

At the American Music Awards 2011 the album in the category was Favorite Soul / R & B album nominated, but lost to the album Loud by Rihanna . In November 2011, the album won the “Album of the Year” category at the Soul Train Music Awards . Brown has been nominated three times at the Grammy Awards 2012 , including in the Best R&B Album category . He was also awarded this prize at the ceremony, making it his first Grammy award (with eleven nominations).
