Music video
The music video was shot by Erik White , who was also responsible for the clips for “ Run It! ”And“ Yo (Excuse Me Miss) ”. It was inspired by the video for the singles " Smooth Criminal " and " You Rock My World " by Michael Jackson . It was shot in the Los Angeles Union Station , a train station in Los Angeles .
The video begins with a scene in which Brown walks into the train station and sits down there. After making eye contact with a girl and appearing to be interested in her, he soon falls asleep. At the same time he hears his song " Poppin ' " on his Walkman Bean . In his dreamer, the train station is transformed into the backdrop of Harlem from the 1920s. He takes on the shape of a businessman and the girl that of a rich and snobbish woman. At the end of the dream, the two almost kiss, but Brown is woken up by Lil Wayne and torn from his dreamer.
success
reception
At contactmusic.com it was felt that the song was "likely to be a much bigger hit than" Yo (Excuse Me Miss) "because of its" nightclub appeal ". In addition, the author of the review wrote that the title is very different from the previously released single " Yo (Excuse Me Miss) ". Others, however, commented negatively on the song, adding that it merely carried on "the boring sound of the club hits".
